People Helping People

Mill City Credit Union is dedicated to supporting our members who seek higher education. That’s why we’re embracing the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” by giving you the opportunity to possibly earn some money for school.


Scholarship Awards

Mill City Credit Union will award a total of $10,000 among seven different recipients. Winners will be selected based on their application and a written essay.

  • First Place – One individual $3,000 award
  • Second Place – One individual $2,000 award
  • Third Place – Five individual $1,000 awards for a total of $5,000

All applications were due by 11:59 p.m. on March 18, 2018.

Essay Prompt

Tell a story of when you or someone you know dealt with fraud. Share the experience (How did you handle it? Where did you go for assistance?) and tell us what you do to protect your information.

Or if you have not dealt with fraud or know someone that has, please research your findings on two of the following topics:

a) Ways your personal information can be attained
b) What can happen if you are impacted by fraud or identity theft
c) Ways you can protect your personal/private information

How to Submit Your Entry

Open the application. Read the instructions and complete each question in the Personal Information section. Once you have completed that section, move on to the essay portion of the application. Carefully read the prompt and enter your essay response in 750 words or less.

Please note that you should complete the entire application at once. Changes may not be made to the application once submitted.

Written Essay Submission:

  • Must be submitted through the online application process.
  • Must be 750 words or less

Selection Process

The Mill City Credit Union Scholarship Committee will select the top seven submissions based on the following criteria:

  • Application – 30%
  • Written Essay – 60% content/message, 10% creativity

The submission time-frame has ended. Please check back in the fall of 2018.
