Mill City CU is proud to support members seeking higher education with scholarship opportunities.

Scholarship Awards

Mill City Credit Union will award a total of $10,000 distributed among nine different recipients.

There are two submission categories available:

  • Written Essay – Eight individual $1,000 awards for a total of $8,000
  • Video – One individual $2,000 award

Applicants may submit entries for both the written essay and video categories, but will only be eligible to win in one category.

Scholarship Question: Do you believe high schools are providing financial education that will or does help you in the real world? Share a personal story of how those lessons help you today, or share how/where you found the answers to financial questions that weren’t covered in school.

If it helps, think of your personal experiences; real life experiences mean you’re the expert, ensure originality and make an impact.. (Exclude names of people and financial institutions from your entry)

How to Submit Your Entry:

There is a two part submission:

  1. Application – weighted 20%
  2. Written essay or video submission – content weighted 65%, creativity weighted 15%

Written Essay Submission:

  • Fill out the online application. Application button located below.
  • Submit your essay into the text field at the end of the application.
    • We encourage you to write the essay in a Word Document or other text editing application and copy/paste it into the text field. Please note that standard formatting of your essay isn’t an option and therefore will not be evaluated.
    • Must be original work of the applicant.
    • Must not contain purchased, copyrighted material or any material that could be considered offensive, libelous, derogatory, or threatening.
    • Exclude names of applicant, his/her relatives and any financial institution
    • Must be submitted through the online application process.
    • Must be 750 words or less
    • Do not submit photographs with the application

Video Submission:

  • Fill out the online application. Application button located below.
  • Once your application is submitted, a window will pop up verifying your submission was complete. This window will also include further instructions.
  • Complete your video submission by clicking the “upload video” link. This will take you to a Share File – FTP site where you will need to upload your video in one of the following file formats: .avi, .mov, .mpg, .wmv or .mp4
  • Must be no longer than 2 minutes
  • Must be an individual entry. No group entries will be accepted.
  • Exclude names of applicant, his/her relatives and any financial institution
  • Must not contain purchased, copyrighted music or any material that could be considered offensive, libelous, derogatory, or threatening.
  • Must be original, personally produced work by applicant.

Video Selection and Voting Process

The Mill City Credit Union Scholarship Committee will pick the top video submission who will receive the scholarship award. There will also be a contest for Mill City Credit Union Facebook fans to vote for the fan favorite. The fan favorite winner will receive a $50 gift card.
